Nepalgunj

Situated 500 km South-West from Kathmandu, this cosmopolitan city hosts the administrative headquarters of western Nepal. The city is filled with people who have migrated from different regions of Nepal, and despite of being small in size, Nepalgunj is rich in cultural diversity. This diversity has been maintained peacefully among residents, who live together harmoniously. According to the National census of 2001, the total population of Nepalgunj was nearly 58,000. By now, this figure may have increased significantly as the city continues to attract new residents.

Nepalgunj has a sub-tropical climate. The temperature from April through Jun exceeds 42 degree Celsius on some occasions, however, from July to the middle of September the temperature falls with the monsoon rain, but the humidity will be very high. The temperature in winter; Dec, Jan & Feb, will be pleasant; the temperature drops down to 9 degree Celsius at this time.  

Nepalgunj is the gateway for several remote regions of western Nepal: Jumla, Dolpo, Humla, Kalikot etc., where there is only air access. The city borders with India (UP) and it is quite closer from Lucknow (approximately 185 km), the capital city of UP, India.
